InfoSeek / Go was probably the fastest of the engines to update itself after you submit a page. This generally happened in a matter of days but there have removed the add-url link and submissions are only available by e-mail. Sidewinder is InfoSeeks spider.
Rankings rely heavily on 2 things. A channel listing and links to your site from other relevant indexed pages. Like the other engines, you still need to work on your optimisation with title, description and keyword tags, but links and a listing in the directory go a long way with InfoSeek.
To get a channel listing you can sign up as a Go Guide by clicking the Go Guides link at http://www.go.com/ and submit your site to the appropriate topic. All submissions are checked by higher level Go Guides and a thriving community helps with information and advice if you want to get more involved with the Go directory.
You also need to build up the number of links from other sites which are relevant to your subject and keywords. Submissions to Free For All sites are of little value because their subject has little relevance to your keywords, but a few links from other sites with similar content to your own will help a lot. Try swapping links with like minded webmasters.
You should send an e-mail to www-request@infoseek.com if you want to submit pages or your site is on an AOL, Geocites or another large free web host. The message must have a separate URL on each line and each should start http://
